The Resident Evil (Music from the Original Motion Picture) was the first various artists soundtrack for the film of the same name, released March 12, 2002 by Roadrunner Records. The soundtrack features songs from such artists as Slipknot, Coal Chamber, Rammstein, The Crystal Method and Depeche Mode.[1] Marilyn Manson,[2] in collaboration with Marco Beltrami, composed the film's key themes and incidental score for film, largely inspired by the scores in John Carpenter films,[3] combining metal, electronic and ambient themes.

Notes[]
- There is a hidden track at the end of the album, featuring a quick snippet of dialogue from the characters Chad Kaplan and Alice.
- Despite the Parental Advisory label, the US release of the soundtrack is censored. The European release, however, is explicit with the exception of The Crystal Method's "Name of the Game".
- The song "Halleluja" by Rammstein was released on their single "Links 2 3 4", but the version present in the soundtrack is an unmastered version of the song found on "Links 2 3 4" single one.
- Different releases of the soundtrack exclude track number 1 and number 16 listed above.
- Composer Charlie Clouser uses a variation of Manson's "Main Title Theme" in his composition for Resident Evil: Extinction[4]
- Likely due to licensing reasons, a number of songs featured in the movie did not appear on the album. These are:
- "Existence" and "Torched", by Frontline Assembly
- "Fist Fuck", by Nine Inch Nails
- "Cyanide 2600", by Spineshank
- "Wall of Death", by Apollo 440
